Rapha’s Survivor Care programs give child survivors the opportunity to reclaim their lost childhoods

WHAT IS SURVIVOR CARE?

Rapha provides residential and non-residential care for children who have already been impacted by trafficking and abuse. Survivor Care programming at Rapha is built on four KEYS TO FREEDOM: Safety, Healing, Education, and Social Work.

KEYS TO FREEDOM

SAFETY

The first step toward hope and healing for survivors of human trafficking and exploitation, is a sense of safety. Rapha provides safe and beautiful facilities for the children in its residential care programs. Rapha staff also work tirelessly to increase safety and protective factors within the families of survivors.  Rapha provides the children in our care with healthy meals, clothing, and personal care supplies.

KEYS TO FREEDOM

HEALING

The next step in caring for children who have experienced complex trauma is to promote healing- mental, emotional, and physical. Under the direction of the US-based Chief Clinical Officer, Angie Brower, MSW, LCSW, counselors provide trauma-informed mental health care for the survivors served by Rapha. All children receive regular follow-up medical treatment and screening, as needed.

KEYS TO FREEDOM

EDUCATION

Successful reintegration for survivors into their families and communities is another key to sustainable freedom. Education is key to most successful reintegrations. In accordance with local and national guidelines, children at Rapha International receive a formal education, either off-site at a public or private school or on-site with the Rapha teaching staff. In addition to this formal education, all of the children benefit from computer classes, agriculture classes, and classes on life and social skills provided by Rapha staff. Vocational training programs, both on-site and with partnering organizations, is a pathway chosen by many clients in Rapha’s care.

KEYS TO FREEDOM

SOCIAL WORK

Rapha International works to increase these Survivor Care services by creating connections that strengthen families and communities, through social work and by pursuing justice for victims of trafficking and abuse. Social workers employed by Rapha International work with families of survivors to strengthen the safety net for vulnerable children. When children are able to be reintegrated with their families, Rapha maintains contact and support for at least one year. Rapha staff also act as liaisons for law enforcement and criminal justice systems, supporting the effort to investigate possible trafficking activities and to prosecute traffickers.

DEDICATED RAPHA STAFF ARE COMMITTED TO BRINGING HEALING, HOPE, AND FREEDOM.
