The Importance of Truthful Messaging

WHY RAPHA? TRUTHFUL MESSAGING MATTERS

Human trafficking and sexual exploitation are difficult realities, and the stories surrounding them deserve to be told with care. At Rapha International, we recognize that every child and survivor is more than a story about what happened to them. Each person has a unique identity, a story of their own, and a future filled with possibility.

That is why we approach storytelling with honesty and integrity.

EVERY STORY BELONGS TO A PERSON

We carefully protect identities and strive to portray the complexity of exploitation and healing without sensationalizing or oversimplifying. We believe it is possible to communicate the seriousness of these issues while honoring the dignity of the people whose lives have been affected by them.

The way we share stories matters just as much as the stories themselves. Our words, images, and videos shape how people understand human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and the journey toward healing. We want our communication to reflect the care, respect, and compassion that guide our work every day.

WHAT IS COMPOSITE STORYTELLING?

We often share composite stories at Rapha. Composite storytelling combines details or experiences from multiple individuals into one representative story. While it can be used to protect identities, it must be communicated transparently so audiences understand that the story does not represent one specific person’s experience. At Rapha, we believe stories should be shared with honesty and integrity, protecting the people behind them while ensuring our communication remains truthful, respectful, and authentic.

Our goal is to invite people into Rapha’s work through stories that are compelling, authentic, and respectful of the people to whom they belong.

Because every story belongs to a person, and every person deserves to be treated with dignity.
